Rennes, the capital of Brittany, has a very rich religious heritage dating from the Romanesque, Gothic and contemporary eras, including the Cathedral Saint Pierre and the Abbey St Georges. The Brocéliande Forest, scene of King Arthur's adventures, remains a mythical place haunted by fairies and wizards. A 90km signposted trail through the area takes you to charming traditional buildings, the beautiful Abbey of Paimpont and the historic Forges de Paimpont.
