Fougères to Dinard
A three day discovery trip visiting three towns with strong art connections in Upper Brittany Ille-et-Vilaine.
Fougères, 'Ville d'art et d'histoire' and capital of the Brittany Marches, has been a trading town for over a thousand years, thanks to its situation at the intersection of three provinces. The town grew up around the castle which stands on a meander of the river Nançon.
Saint-Malo, famous for its ramparts, also has wonderful beaches and festivals to discover.
Dinard is an elegant seaside resort, built during the 19th century, which has retained all the special charm of la Belle Epoque.
The town of Fougères has an exceptional example of a medieval fortress which has become a reference work for military architecture. Explore the castle and its new sound and vision experience, the Museum-Workshop of Clockmaking, the Gardens de la Ballue... In Saint-Malo, the town of corsairs and shipping merchants, come and visit the Fort National, the Corsair's mansion and the Grand Aquarium. Dinard offers splendid beaches, coastal walks and sumptuous, genteel villages with a Mediterranean air. Take a boat trip along the Rance with Croisières Chateaubriand, visit the Atelier Manoli museum of sculpture or stroll around the Gardens at la Malouinière du Montmarin.
