The legend of Brittany
Pays de Brocéliande
The Forest of Brocéliande at the mythical heart of Brittany is the setting of the legend of King Arthur. With its purple shale landscape, groves and deep valleys, the forest has a spellbinding charm which can be felt in Paimpont and the surrounding villages. Don’t miss the abbey church of Saint-Méen-le-Grand, the Ecomusée environmental museum at Montfort and Bécherel, Cité du Livre.
The wonders of Brittany
Pays de la Baie du Mont Saint-Michel
Wavering between land and sea, this part of Brittany gets its distinctive character from its wild and fragile beauty. On one side the vast Bay lives to the rhythm of the timeless ebbing and flowing of the tides and bristles with mussel beds, while on the other side the groves and moors are well sheltered behind the Duchess Anne sea wall. Here the horizon stretches away into the distance and you can just make out Mont-Dol or the spires of Dol-de-Bretagne cathedral. Make the most of the salty seaside air, have a plate of oysters in Cancale harbour or simply take in the scenery - these are the best ways to experience the wonders of Brittany.
The nature of Brittany
Pays de Redon
Have a total change of scene and pace as you take a gentle boat trip on the River Vilaine. From the water you can take in the green twists and turns of the river, the timeless locks, the villages bursting with flowers and the charming little river ports. But you will also discover the beauty of the natural sites of Corbinières, Ile-aux-Pies and the Marais de Gannedel, which add to its wealth. The historical city and major river port of Redon stand guard over this peaceful world where life is enjoyed to the full.
