Port Saint Jean is the starting-point of the coastal footpath that runs along the banks of the River Rance to the Saint-Suliac dam via Mont Gareau. The Rance Estuary, so-named to distinguish it from the maritime section of the Rance, begins at Port Saint-Jean. The maritime section corresponds to the area of seawater running down to the tidal power station.
